Notas de prova (Tasting notes)
The series NOTAS DE PROVA (TASTING NOTES, 2014) is composed of twenty photographs printed with mineral pigments on 500g cotton paper, documenting the degrees of purity and density of different samples of water collected by the artist in the Pampulha Lake (in Belo Horizonte).
The photographs were then matched with tasting notes taken from labels of wine bottles. The dialogue between words and images is encapsulated in acrylic structures that amplify transparency and brightness.
In 2012, the artist performed many expeditions in the Pampulha Lake (in Belo Horizonte), aboard a little boat from Sudecap (Superintendência de Desenvolvimento da Capital), in order to raise materials for the conception of new works for the solo exhibition LIÇÃO DE COISAS, which took place in 2012 at the Pampulha Art Museum, in Belo Horizonte. Among these new works, NOTAS DE PROVA and the production of the video ILHA DOS AMORES (LOVERS’ ISLAND) can be counted.
